Mrs. Norma Oladunni O. Laing

Norma has served as a Technical Instructor in the Department of Architecture since March 2003. Prior to that, she worked as a Demonstrator for 2 years in the Department. She obtained a Master of Research in Educational and Social Research by distance learning (Full-Time) from the University of London in June 2010. She holds a PG Diploma in Architecture, a B.Sc. in Design (Hons), from KNUST and a City & Guilds I, III & IV in AutoCAD from the Leeds College of Technology.
Whilst in the UK (1995-2000) she worked as an Edit Technician with Yorkshire Water Authority (1998-2000) and as a Data Technician with the Leeds Development Agency (1997-1998) after a short spell as a Receptionist in the Leeds College of Technology (1997). From 1994 to 1997, she took a career break to raise a family. Prior to that, she worked as an Assistant Architect in Accra (1993) and as a National Service Personnel at KNUST (1992 to 1993). Mrs. Laing has served as a Studio Mistress to various Year Groups and teaches Computer Applications in Environmental Design. She has supervised many postgraduate theses and undergraduate dissertations in addition to her role as an Academic Tutor. Her current areas of research interest are in research training and knowledge production in Architectural Education, Low-Income Housing and, Inclusive but Sustainable Urban Development and Regeneration.
