Community Service

Graduates from the Department are making their mark throughout the world at various positions. Mails from their workplaces attest to this. The Department has been involved in many projects at various levels in the country and at the international level through its Project Office. In 2014, the Department worked on the layout of the land-use plan for the Ghana Free Zones Board at Tema.

Individual Faculty Members have also been involved with the design and construction of a number of projects and provided valuable services to the community including the following examples:

—The new Administration Building for the University of Cape Coast (Prof. G. W. K. Intsiful).

—The new Centre for Continuing Education complex building at the University of Cape Coast (Prof. G. W. K. Intsiful).

—The new "Union" Building which is a Commercial, Sports and Recreational Building Complex for the University of Cape Coast (Prof. G. W. K. Intsiful).

—A number of projects at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi:

  • Design and Supervision of Construction of Chief Executive’s Residence (Arc. E.A. Botchway).
  • Design of Housing Units for Hospital Staff (Arc. E.A. Botchway).
  • Design of Housing Units for Nurses, Bantama (Arc. E.A. Botchway).
  • Design and Construction of Eye Centre of Excellence (Arc. E.A. Botchway)

—Chairman, Infrastructure Development Committee of the Ghana Basketball Association (2002 to date – National Assignment, Prof. S. O. Afram).

—Design of the Golden Jubilee Durbar Grounds in 9 regions of Ghana to commemorate the Golden Jubilee celebrations. (National Assignment, Prof S.O. Afram)

—Member, Board of Governors, Ridge School, Kumasi, 2002-2004, (Prof. S. O. Afram).

—Hospital Theatre/CSSD Unit, Jakobu Hospital, 2000-2001 (Arc. Dan Amoateng-Mensah).

—Rehabilitation Centre for Mental Patients at Dompoase, 2000-2001 (Arc. Daniel Amoateng-Mensah).
